this is a ‘close-at-hand’ viewing of the cited work. the series of close-ups are meant to present the feeling of having the actual painting in your hand and you are thus viewing it as if you were the painter as it was painted. i believe this is the crucial reason to have art in the home: to realize the ‘mark as metaphor’ in the work. -dm
